"Sikron", manufacturer of the thermal equipment, offers tempering furnaces with various temperature conditions.

Tempering furnaces are used for heat treatment of metals and their alloys for enhancement of strength properties and durability of products. The present technology moderates the influence of tempering, removes residual stresses, and reduces brittleness of steel.

Furnace operating temperature makes 700-800°С; though, the limit resource of lining and heaters allows to withstand considerable thermal loads. This resource was designed in the unit for increase of equipment service period

All tempering furnaces have working chamber internal space of which is made of corrosion- and heat-resistant shields and light heat insulation. Operating air circulated in the furnace.

Temperature in the chamber required for treatment of metals is created by spiral heaters winded on ceramic cores. Tempering furnaces are equipped with a microprocessor temperature regulator for adjustment of thermal conditions. Besides, the furnace can be supplemented with a cart for unloading/loading of materials.  

Tempering furnaces can have shaft or chamber design.

Technology and kinds of tempering

Treatment of a workpiece in the tempering furnace for removal of residual stress and reduction of brittleness is carried out by heating of hardened elements to temperature below the critical value. This method allows to get various material conditions which differ by their structure and properties from the initial workpiece.

Tempering furnaces allow to use the following treatment technologies, depending on thermal conditions:

  1. low-temperature tempering. The workpiece is heated up to 200-300°С, which causes reduction of hardness and increase of plastic properties of the material. This removes internal stresses in the products;
  2. medium-temperature tempering. Parts are heated up to 300-500°С. The greater the heating is, the more plastic and tough the material will be;
  3. high-temperature tempering at 500-700°С increases material mechanical properties, such as durability, plasticity, and toughness. Therefore, this technology is usually applied for heat treatment of springs, car axes, and other details which are subject to influence of high stresses.
